Headlight protection

It's not easy finding a (good) headlight protector for our motorcycles. Eventually we find one on Marktplaats (the Dutch eBay). Let's see if it fits.

The headlight protection needs to be installed using four bolts. Two just above the headlight, where the windshield is mounted and two in the lower part of the front fairing, the piece that encases the headlight. A trip down memory lane, bolts that won't come out of the Honda plastics. The four bolts that are holding the front fairing are turning, but won't come out. Let's try that the old fashioned way; pulling hard on the fairing and turning the bolts. After some fiddling the headlight unit finally comes of the motorbike.

It seems the headlight protector will fit reasonably, unfortunately the supplied bolts don't. We will have to work something out. So we will postpone the installation of the protection.

Het valt nog niet mee om een goede koplampbeschermer voor onze motoren te vinden. Uiteindelijk hebben we er dan toch een via Marktplaats kunnen kopen. Eens kijken of hij er op past.

De koplampbeschermer dient met vier boutjes vastgezet te worden. Twee op de plek waar het ruitje mee vast zit. En twee onderin het voorste kuipdeel, waar de koplamp in zit. Een feest van herkenning, boutjes die niet los willen uit het Honda plastic. De vier bouten waar het kuipdeel mee vast zit, draaien rondjes maar komen er niet uit. Dan maar weer op de oude manier, van hard trekken aan de kuip en draaien aan de schroef. Na enig pielen ligt de koplampunit van de motor.

De koplampbeschermer lijkt redelijk te passen, maar de meegeleverde boutjes doen dat helaas niet. Daar zullen we dus nog iets anders voor moeten regelen. Het monteren stellen we dus maar even uit.
